BIOGRAPHIE

Wendie Zahibo est une artiste pluridisciplinaire, poète, photographe et collagiste, vivant entre la Guadeloupe et la France hexagonale. D’ascendance pluriculturelle (Côte d’Ivoire, Centrafrique), elle explore les identités noires au sein de l’Atlantique noir. Diplômée du Harrington College of Design (Chicago, 2014) et actuellement en master à la Sorbonne, elle nourrit son travail d’expériences transnationales tout en questionnant les notions de mémoire et de transmission.

En 2015, elle initie Reines Des Temps Modernes, un projet au long cours sur les représentations féminines noires, décliné en livre, podcasts et capsules multimédias. En 2020, Corsé de cuirs ( aux éditions Neg Mawons) approfondit cette réflexion en explorant l’intimité des femmes noires et s’attachant à faire dialoguer histoires personnelles et perspectives collectives.

Depuis 2022, elle développe masonn, consacré à l’architecture vernaculaire et au réalisme mystique. En 2023, elle présente sa première exposition solo dans le cadre du Festival Monde en vues en Guadeloupe. Lauréate du programme ONDES 2024 de la Cité internationale des arts, elle expose la même année à la galerie Chosun (Corée), l’Instituto Energisa (Brésil), à Gorée (Sénégal), dans le cadre du OFF de la Biennale de Dakar.

En 2025, Wendie Zahibo figure parmi les 23 lauréats du Festival Circulation(s) à Paris, tout en amorçant deux nouvelles résidences de co-création, l’une en Côte d’Ivoire (à la Manzane) et l’autre au Brésil (à Arapuca Cultura e Arte dans le cadre de la Saison France-Brésil). Elle expose à l’Estação Cabo Branco à João Pessoa et au Musée de l’Homme, à Récife. Elle participera également aux Rencontres Photographiques de Guyane avec la Fondation Dapper.

Son œuvre, inspirée par la multiplicité des récits diasporiques, interroge les réalités croisées et questionne la place du patrimoine immatériel dans la construction identitaire.

Wendie Zahibo is a multidisciplinary artist—poet, photographer, and collagist—living between Guadeloupe and mainland France. Of a multicultural background (Ivory Coast and The Central African Republic), she explores Black identities within the Black Atlantic. A graduate of Harrington College of Design in Chicago (2014) and currently pursuing a master’s degree at the Sorbonne, she draws on transnational experiences while examining notions of memory and transmission.

In 2015, she launched Reines Des Temps Modernes, a long-term project on Black women’s representations, developed as a book, podcasts, and multimedia capsules. In 2020, Corsé de cuirs (published by Neg Mawons) furthered this reflection by exploring Black women’s intimacy and fostering dialogue between personal narratives and collective perspectives.

Since 2022, she has been developing masonn, a project dedicated to vernacular architecture and mystical realism. In 2023, she presented her first solo exhibition as part of the Monde en vues Festival in Guadeloupe. A laureate of the 2024 ONDES program at the Cité internationale des arts, she exhibited that same year at the Chosun Gallery (South Korea), the Instituto Energisa (Brazil), and in Gorée (Senegal) as part of the OFF program of the Dakar Biennale.

In 2025, Wendie Zahibo is among the 23 laureates of the Circulation(s) Festival in Paris, while initiating two new co-creation residencies: one in Côte d’Ivoire (at La Manzane) and another in Brazil (at Arapuca Cultura e Arte, as part of the France-Brazil Season). She is exhibiting at Estação Cabo Branco in João Pessoa and at the Museu do Homem in Recife. She will also take part in the Rencontres Photographiques de Guyane with the Dapper Foundation.

Her work, inspired by the multiplicity of diasporic narratives, explores intersecting realities and questions the role of intangible heritage in shaping identity.
